I decided to take a two week vacation and here are the best pictures (65/1,893) I took during the road trip. I bought a 21 foot travel trailer and changed the back seat of the pickup into a dog bench so Wyatt could come along with me. I drove 5669.1 miles and got 12.3mpg which was $1,832.67 in fuel and the truck used/leaked 3 gallons of oil.

The first stop was spent in the Great Smoky Mountains national park in the Elkmont campsite next to the Little River.

The second night was spend at Hot Springs National Park in the Gulpha Gorge campground.

I drove up Hot springs mountain where there was a lookout pull off. I was early enough to get some good pictures in the  morning.

The next stop was to Cate's in Austin. Saturday We went to my first craw-fish boil, it was a delicious and fun event. We had a great Easter, we had a Easter egg hunt and a pinata.

My sister's dog Pearl for her lower teeth.

Right to the jugular.

Right to the jugular.

I think Perl enjoyed the pinata the most out of all of us.

My sister tells me that the dog is enjoying itself but I am still skeptical.

I was able to run out of fuel in one tank and juts able to get the 10 miles to the nearest gas station on the last remaining diesel in the second tank.

After driving for two days was finally able to get out of Texas and into New Mexico. I camped at Sumner Lake State Park. I saw a fox, 3 deer, vultures and a rabbit.

The sun was coming out from behind the clouds and lighting up the scrub lands.

The vultures were getting the last up drafts of the day on the lower side of the dam.

The jack rabbit is in the center of the frame hopping away.

I stayed one night at the south rim camp site.

There were some tame Elk in the Grand Canyon campgrounds. We walked up on some young ones and got about 10 feet away before it walked off.

The pictures do not do the Grand Canyon any justice.

Sunset on the south rim.

Wyatt has to sniff its' butt before he would get near it.

Sunrise

The next night was spent at a campground next to Zion National park because the park filled up by 9am on a Tuesday.

Driving through the tunnel was an amazing feat of brute engineering.

There were no camp sites in the park so Wyatt and I stopped here to get a drink and figure out the next stop.

There was a pull off that had some trains and odd colored hills.

There was a sign next to this spot that warned not to drive through the water. Not sure if the sand waves were made by wind or waved but I thought they looked cool.

Sunset in Arches National Park. I stayed the night at a gas station.

Colorado East Portal Trail Head going to the Crater Lakes, the start of the hike with Chris, Jake, Wyatt, Me, and Kathy (Emmanuel Behind the camera)

Emmanuel, Kathy, and Chris taking a little break.

Emmanuel found a nice rock near the pass to pose on and look rugged. We never found the Crater Lakes but there were some cool skiers we saw on the way down.

I decided to slide down this little hill and everyone else started to follow. Jake decided to outclass us all and do a barrel roll down the hill.

On the way down from the hike Kathy saw a snow hair.

After Colorado I continued going east and stayed Monday in Omaha. Erin, Thank you for having me over, I enjoyed my stay and I am glad to hear that you were able to fix your cloths dryer fuse.

The next night was spent at a rest area on the side of the road near Akron.

The worst weather was in Maryland. After crossing the mountains there was thick fog and very heavy rain.
